Strengthen your immune system in 15 minutes.

Are you aware you can influence and strengthen your immune system in 15 minutes using breathing exercises derived from yoga and other energy arts from the east? I was lucky enough to attend a Wim Hoff seminar in February 2019.


I myself have been a key advocate of the Wim Hoff method for the last few years. So I was excited to attend the seminar in London to learn more. I was keen to discover if with Wim's method, I could conquer getting into an ice bath for two minutes (the seminar finale). I have always hated cold showers and cold water since I can remember. I have fond memories screaming at the top of my voice whilst showering with cold water, on holiday in Thailand many years ago.


The seminar was a great experience and very informative, along with Wim explaining his story and method. There was also insight into the results of the medical experiments carried out on Wim from a qualified doctor and also a scientist. At the end of the seminar we were all encouraged to participate in the ice baths after the science had been explained and we had primed our systems with breathing exercises. I decided it was no or never under Wim's and his instructors supervision. I jumped in and stuck to the breathing we had been taught and kept my focus for 2 mins until we were instructed to jump back out. It was a very invigorating and positive experience to round off a great seminar.


I always start my day with the breathing practice and have been daily, for the last two years. It has helped me fight off illness and stress and start my day energised and mentally focused. I am also currently working on improving my tolerance to cold showers.



The immune system is our natural defence mechanism that protects our bodies against viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens that cause disease. When your immune system is weak or overactive, you are more at risk of get ill. Therefore, a healthy immune system is essential to fight off diseases.


Because the immune system is connected to many different aspects of your body, it can be manipulated by taking care of your body in certain ways. Scientific research has provided us with evidence that practitioners of the Wim Hof Method have a stronger immune response to pathogens, compared to others.


Study's at the Radboud University study in 2011 showed that by using his method, Wim was able to voluntarily influence his autonomic nervous system. According to scientific text books until then was thought impossible. This groundbreaking finding, published in PNAS and Nature, established credibility, rewrote biology textbooks and piqued scientists’ curiosity.


Since then, many researchers have taken an interest in the potential benefits of the Wim Hof Method. Today, Wim and his team continue to work with research institutions and various promising studies are currently underway.
